Warm Orange Mulled Cider

This is a non-alcoholic adaptation of the Warm Orange Glögg from The Red Rooster Cookbook. It's a great drink for the holidays or any day with a chill in the air.

4 liters apple cider

Grated zest of 4 oranges

¼ cup cardamom pods

¼ cup star anise

¼ cup peeled and sliced ginger

15 cinnamon sticks

20 (2-inch) pieces orange zest

  1. Pour the cider into a stockpot and add the grated orange zest, cardamom, star anise, ginger, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Ladle the cider into Irish coffee cups. Rub the zest around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the cider.
