Celebrating the Launch of Kraft Planters Peanut Butter

We had a great event to celebrate the launch of Kraft Planters Peanut Butter. The event showcased a variety of delicious recipes that I developed for the brand, which celebrated peanut butter's versatility and diverse history.

One thing that was important to do at the dinner was to try to use peanut butter in a whole new way. As chefs, we often take common ingredients and try to make them into delicious dishes. Peanuts and peanut butter have a rich history in many cuisines around the world, so we wanted to make new dishes while being careful to respect the flavors and understand how they all fit together.

But besides having a storied history around the world, peanut butter is the kind of food that comforts you and brings back childhood memories. Some of the guests talked about great memories of having peanuts or peanut butter as kids. Triona Schmelter, Senior Marketing Director of Grocery for Kraft North America, was fondly drawn back to her childhood eating peanuts in Georgia.

Another important part of the meal was to show that peanut butter, which can conjure thoughts of a child's simple PB&J, can be used for more grown-up cooking too. Some of the representatives from Planters said they loved the idea of using peanut butter as both simple food and as an ingredient in something more complex. It can be used as is, or it can inspire you to cook with it.

For hors d'oeuvre, we served bacon, pepper jelly, and Planters peanut butter in an English muffin to show how the peanut butter can play off of different flavors. But we also had a bit of peanut butter on a cracker with an apple slice to demonstrate how peanut butter can also stand up almost complete on its own.

Before anyone had any of the prepared dishes, each guest was served two spoonfuls of peanut butter, one of the smooth and the other of the chunky Planters peanut butter. Before trying peanut butter in all its different forms in the meal, I wanted everyone to really taste the peanut butter as is and think about the flavor and texture.

The appetizers were and African-Inspired Peanut Soup, Satay Dipping Sauce with Grilled Chicken Skewers, and Dark chocolate-Planters Peanut Butter Spread Over Crackers Topped With A Grapefruit Wedge. The main was a kind of surf and turf of Planters Peanut Butter Steak Sauce With Grilled Steak and Grilled Bass with Planters Peanut Butter-Chili Mole. And for everyone's favorite, dessert, we had a plate of Planters Peanut Butter-Chocolate Pancakes, Planters Peanut Butter-Chocolate French Toast, and Salty Marbled Chocolate-Planters Peanut Butter Brownies.

Planters Peanut Butter Launches Today!

As I mentioned in my peanut butter recipe roundup, I've been working with Kraft to help launch their new brand of Planters peanut butter by creating some innovative recipes featuring PB. I'm so excited to announce that my recipes and Planters Peanut Butter are both premiering today!

Peanut butter is a great way to get your protein, especially if you're a vegan, vegetarian, or just taking part in Meatless Mondays. Plus it's just plain tasty. But you don't have to limit yourself to peanut butter sandwiches or PB on celery. Peanut butter is so flavorful and makes for some really interesting combinations with other ingredients - don't be afraid to branch out!

Take peanut butter on toast to the next level with my Peanut Butter Chocolate French Toast recipe, which works as a delicious addition to breakfast or brunch. I've also developed a Peanut Butter Soup recipe that uses both crunchy and creamy Planters peanut butter and features Ethiopian spices. For a more interesting dinner or lunch, I created a Peanut Butter Dipping Sauces recipe, which will add amazing flavor to chicken or vegetable skewers.

See all of my recipes for Planters on their Facebook page - Peanut Butter Doug, Mr. Peanut's new sidekick and stunt double, will debut them today!

Roundup of Our Best Peanut Butter Recipes

I'm really excited for Kraft to unveil their new Planters peanut butter! I'll be helping out launch the new product tomorrow night. Peanuts and peanut butter are a great way to get your daily dose of protein and can be used in a myriad of different ways in your cooking. To get prepped for its emergence this Thursday, we have a roundup of great recipes that you can use the new Kraft Planters peanut butter in.

Peanuts are a great addition to many types of appetizers. Peking Chicken Wraps get a texture boost from peanuts, and have peanut butter in the hoisin dipping sauce. Peanut butter on toast is also a great snack before bedtime.

For an update on the classic cookie, try making Peanut Butter Cookies with Milk Chocolate Chunks. You also have the option of making no-bake cookies and substituting peanut butter for the almond butter. They don't say chocolate and peanut butter is one of the tastiest pairings for nothing!

Mr. Peanut and his new sidekick (and stunt double) Peanut Butter Doug will be premiering their new product on the Mr. Peanut Facebook fan page this Thursday.
