Recipes for Memorial Day

It's not too late to plan an impromptu Memorial Day get together! Here are some easy ideas for edible additions to your holiday.

Aside from grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, why not throw a few vegetarian ingredients on the grill? Not only do they have less calories than a beef patty, but portobello burgers have great flavor and pair well with all the normal burger toppings like tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, and homemade condiments.

If the weather's nice, it could be a great opportunity to make some quick Prosciutto and Cheese Sandwiches and gather friends for a picnic. If you prepare a batch of iced tea and a container full of fruit salad, you'll have a meal ready to go within an hour.

For dessert, make some good old-fashioned American favorites such as Chocolate Chip Cookies or a Piled-High Apple Pie.
