Food and People from around the World!

Food and People from Around the World is a photo project that me and my good friend and business partner Andrew Chapman started in order to bring together the amazing experiences from us and other people through photographs of food and people. Every Thursday, we'll be posting snapshots from different spots around the world and encourage you to do the same. You can share your photos by emailing us at You can also submit a post on Tumblr which we review before posting our favorites here on Another option is to share your photos with us by posting them with a story caption in our group "Marcus Samuelssson Food and People from around the World" on Flickr.

Our first set of photos is taken by Andrew in Kochi, India.

According to Andrew, Kochi was an amazing city to visit and the cultural diversity reminded him of New York. Andrew wanted to share the photos of a charismatic fisherman while he is creating a fishnet with his feet and later on the result of the tuna they captured.

Kochi, also known as Cochin, is a city in the Indian state of Kerala. The city is one of the biggest seaports in India. The population is estimated to be 600,000, with an extended metropolitan population of about 1.5 million. Kochi is the largest city in South India without a Hindu majority. And the spice capital of India.

Successive waves of migration over the course of several millennia have made Kochi a cultural melting pot. Despite the risk of over development, the city retains its distinct colonial heritage and a blend of tradition and modernity.
