Fall Food Festivals

Fall is starting to creep up on us, which means we have some of the best foods to look forward to; like braised meats, hot chowders, and hearty stews. Fall also means we have new food festivals to look forward to. All over the country, people will be getting together this fall to celebrate and enjoy the best the food world has to offer. Here's a list of some fall food festivals that you should fit into your fall schedule:

Food and Wine Festival-New York City: September 29 - October 2

Presented by Food and Wine Magazine, this festival brings together some of the biggest names in food like Ferran Adria, Ted Allen, Anthony Bourdain, Dana Cowin, Giada De Laurentiis, Paula Deen, Rocco DiSpirito, Johnny Iuzzini, Susur Lee, George Mendes, Masaharu Morimoto, Jacques Pepin, Eric Ripert, Adam Richman, Marcus Samuelsson, Martha Stewart and Jonathan Waxman, and that's just a few of the people who will be there. With a line-up like that, this is sure to be a great event with tastings, talks, and dinners that are not to be missed.

Mystic Seaport Chowderfest-Mystic, Connecticut: October 8 - 10

On a cool autumn day, a hot bowl of chunky chowder is just the right thing to warm you up, and the Mystic Seaport Chowderfest is the place to go. Along with an assortment of clam cakes and artisan beers, seven different types of chowder will be available for tasting at the event, which is held right by the children's museum and on the ocean's coast.

Wellfleet Oysterfest-Wellfleet, Massachusetts: October 15 - 16

Besides taking place in a beautiful location, the Wellfleet Oysterfest is great place for visitors to dine on delicious clams and oysters while enjoying the work of some of Cape Cod's best artists and musicians. Between oyster slurps, visitors can also watch the annual oyster shucking contest or feast their eyes on the year's biggest oyster.

Boston Vegetarian Food Festival-Boston, Massachusetts: October 29 - 30

Hoping to bring people together to enjoy delicious vegetarian foods from around New England, Boston Vegetarian Food Festival offers free tastings, speakers, activities and educational exhibitions to get people excited about eating healthy and eating green.

Wurstfest-New Braunfels, Texas: November 4 - 13

Celebrating the rich history of German culture and food, Wurstfest offers fun, food, special events, and Alpine and Bavarian style entertainment. The ten-day festival has been held annually since 1961 and has since become more and more popular over the years with tens of thousands of visitors every year. If you're in the Texas area, be sure to stop by and check out the selection of wursts like bratwursts, bockwursts, knackwurst, weisswurst, and leberwurst.
