ANNOUNCING THE RISE RESIDENCY
Food Culture Refueled
Chef Marcus Samuelsson launches The Rise Residency at Denniston Hill—a first-of-its-kind fellowship reimagining how mid-career culinary professionals grow, reflect, and lead. Applications are now open.
The program offers two transformative weeks in residence at Denniston Hill, a $5,000 living stipend, and six months of direct mentorship with Marcus. Fellows gain access to an extensive food archive celebrating Black culinary heritage and engage in sustainable garden practices that connect creativity to the land itself.
Supported by the Mellon Foundation and guided by an advisory board spanning hospitality, philanthropy, and the arts, Rise creates the space—and the support system—for breakthrough ideas to take root. This is where culinary vision meets cultural leadership.
