One of my favorite things at the end of a hot summer day is to kick back and sip on some fancy homemade cocktails on the dock. It’s been hot here in Austin, really, really hot…as in 45 days and counting of 100+ degree days, hot. Pass me an ice cold beverage please!!
My version of Sangria is simple (of course) and without the added sugar; it is the perfect “Skinny Girl” cocktail. Tastes good, makes you feel good, and it’s good for your physique, what’s not to like?! Oh, and have you noticed it’s absolutely GORGEOUS?! This White Sangria Sparkler is an immediate show stopper when entertaining!
It’s also incredibly crisp and refreshing, an absolute must to help cool you down on those sticky summer nights.
A lot of people are under the misconception that you can not drink and still lose weight. While reducing your alcohol intake is advisable, an occasional cocktail is just fine! I think it’s one of the things that can help keep you on the path for the long haul. Sometimes you just need a cocktail, you know?!
As long as you keep your cordials clean and light (steer clear of sugary, high calorie and chemical laden mixers), there’s nothing wrong with having a fabulous cocktail from time to time!
Ingredients:
1-2 bottles of crisp white wine, I used 1 bottle Sauvignon Blanc and 1 bottle of sparkling Vino Verde
2 ripe local peaches, sliced
1 pint raspberries
2 kiwis
several sprigs of mint
Stevia, I used NuNaturals Alcohol Free Stevia
Method:
- Simply add the sliced fruit and mint to the wine and add several squirts of NuNaturals Alcohol Free Stevia until desired sweetness is reached (REMEMBER: if you want to order your stevia through iherb.com, you can use my discount code WAG472 to get $5 off your first order).
- Let sit for at least an hour in the fridge to let the flavors infuse. In the summertime, it’s also nice to freeze half of the fruit and add right before serving so they act as ice cubes in the Sangria.
Then find a lovely spot outside to relax, sip, and catch up with friends. I sat on my dock outside and watched the sunset over Austin. A pretty nice way to end the day if you ask me.

So happy that I stumbled upon this skinny girl cocktail drink – am loving the amount of fresh fruits in it! There’s only a month of summer left in NYC so I’m gonna take your advice and try your fabulous cocktail without feeling any hint guiltiness
That’s the loveliest photograph of sangria — or any summery beverage — I’ve ever seen. Gorgeous. Speaking from a group that promotes healthful spa cuisine, you are absolutely right in your analysis. Skip the sugary pop-culture colored mixers and let nature shine through and you’ll be just fine. Many spa resorts offer a sangria type beverage. People are surprised how much better a beverage likes yours tastes, when it’s made fresh and without syrups and such, and that an occasional indulgence is recommended.
This is gorgeous!! I cant wait to make this soon…just love Sangria!
What a gorgeous Sangria!
Instead of the white wine try using Spanish Cava or Champagne- much nicer!
This drink is really pretty when you make it and as some other posters have mentioned, you can make substitute with the fruit and it still tastes really good! I purposely change up the fruit to make it more interesting! Thanks for a great recipe!
