When it’s really hot outside, it’s tempting to reach for a soda or an iced coffee to cool down. Why not make a batch of refreshing Iced Mint Green Tea instead? Not only does green tea have great benefits, it tastes delicious when iced and has just enough caffeine for an early afternoon pick-me-up. Not only is it a cooling antidote to summer heat, this tea has no calories!
This tea would also travel well for a picnic. Simply combine all the ingredients and pack in a tightly sealed water bottle or container.
Iced Mint Green Tea Recipe
Makes 4 cups
4 tea bags of your favorite green tea
1 cup, loosely packed mint leaves
Ice
Make the tea: Bring 4 cups of water just to a boil, then remove from the heat. Add the tea bags and steep for exactly 3 minutes. (Set a timer!) Set the tea aside and let cool until at room temperature.
To serve: Place a few mint leaves in the bottom of tall glasses and muddle with a bar spoon or other long spoon. Fill the glass with ice and mint leaves, then pour the tea over. Save any extra iced tea in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator.
