It’s ok to admit that there you have post summer blues, especially when the fall kicks right in. Feeling frustrated to layer up? Bothered that your ice-cream-eating days are probably over until well into the New Year? Perhaps you need a little ‘pick me up’ and what better way to do it than with a soft, creamy and most consolatory Tiramisu.
Like a best friend that will not let you down, treat her like your inner sound board as you draw her in, spoon by spoon. A little bit chocolate, a little bit espresso and a lot of Marsala softened by dipped ladyfingers and fluffy mascarpone cheese make this Italian treat a perfect retreat for the weekend! To bid farewell to that summer love, throw in a handful of sliced strawberries and then allow her to do her work and pick you up. After all, that’s what friends are for!

6 egg yolks
4 tablespoons sugar
1 pound mascarpone cheese
2 shots espresso, cooled
1/4 cup of Marsala Wine
24 packaged ladyfingers
1/4 cup of sliced stawrberries, macerated (sprinkled with 1/2 tsp sugar)
3/4 cup bittersweet chocolate shavings
- Whisk yolks and sugar until pale (blanchir), add mascarpone and beat until smooth (don’t over beat or mixture will become grainy textured).
- Combine espresso and Marsala in a cup. Dip the ladyfingers in the espresso mixture and lay a layer in a flat and rectangular dish.
- Cover the fingers with half the mascarpone and yolk mixture. Scantily add a layer of strawberries and then repeat steps 1 and 2.
- Sprinkle the chocolate shavings over the last layer.
- Serve chilled.
