Richard Chai is a prolific designer who is ever unpredictable, but his use of prints and fabrics in his forthcoming Spring 2013 collection can be assured. In that spirit, some liquors that combine his love of polish with his talent with color would be most appropriate. Taking our cues from the Godfather of modern cocktails, Jerry Thomas, here’s a take on an aromatic tipple combining vermouth and whiskey, something we’d like to serve Richard Chai to congratulate him on another successful NYFW show.

1 oz Rye Whiskey
2 oz red Vermouth
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 tsp Maraschino liqueur
slice of lemon
1. Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
2. Garnish drink with lemon or apple slice. Serve immediately.
