Food and People - Tibet with Charlie Grosso

This week's photos of Food & People is part of a photographic series of different cities by Charlie Grosso. Below is what Charlie has to say about the photos and her experience of Tibet. Tibet, the highest place I have ever been and certainly the coldest. I guess that is part for the course when you are there in late December. Carcass after carcass of goats and yaks, skinned, nothing but bones, heads laying about. When the natural condition is as harsh as the Tibetan plateau, nothing goes to waste. All the meats, carcass of goats (skinned and hanging or sitting) are frozen. It is so cold the meat does not smell or rot. Instead some of them take on the coloration of dry aged beef.

Every Thursday, we'll be posting snapshots from different spots around the world and encourage you to do the same. You can share your photos by emailing us at FoodandPeople@SamuelssonGroup.com You can also submit a post on Tumblr which we review before posting our favorites here on MarcusSamuelsson.com
