Sunday was another great day for me during the New York Wine and Food Festival, as I got to participate in another cooking demonstration for parents and children at AOL and Huffington Post's "Oasis". Located at the Dream Hotel Downtown lied a place to escape from the fast pace of the Festival and grab a massage or replenish with fresh cut fruits and juices, granola and honey parfaits and exotic tea beverages. The space hosted a series of relaxing events and healthy cooking demos.  I featured my popular Avocado and Banana Smoothie and a Peanut Hummus.
What I loved about the space was that it offered a great environment for children to get interested in healthy eating and creative activities. The children were calmly occupied by jewelry designer, Laura Lobdell, making trinkets and treasures out of macaroni and glitter; and a coloring board allowed them to participate while learning about eating their vegetables.
It's important to teach the younger generation the importance of eating healthy food and finding ways to interest them more in the cooking process and this event definitely showed them that food can be both good for you and fun.
