I want to give a special shout out to a few people and let you all know that I'm excited for Food Republic's Twitter LiveChat! It's taking place this Thursday to help raise awareness and money for the victims of the East African drought and famine, a topic I've been focused on for a while now. Over 12 million people are affected by this food crisis and much help is still needed to help alleviate it. That is why Food Republic will be hosting its very first Twitter Livechat featuring me and other fellow chefs and food websites to discuss what the food community can do to help address and raise awareness about the current famine crisis in the Horn of Africa.
Those joining me that day for our live conversation will be John Besh, Andrew Zimmern, Aaron Sanchez, Beau MacMillan, Michael Voltaggio, and the websites Foodspotting and Food+Tech Connect. I admire all of these fellow chefs for their many accomplishments and now for joining me in my efforts to raise money for my native land of East Africa. Food websites like Foodspotting and Food+Tech Connect help keep food news in the forefront and for them to participate in the conversation as well helps get our message of social responsibility out to a larger public. We will also be holding a live online auction for various items donated by each chef with all proceeds going to UNICEF relief efforts in that area.
That is why I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of them for their involvement in this cause. It means a lot to me and the goal we are trying to achieve with Food Republic of raising awareness in food news and politics.
I can't wait to share my thoughts with everyone!
