Last Friday, Red Rooster Harlem partook in one of the New York Wine and Food Festival's guiltiest pleasures- it's Fried event! Held at Hill Country BBQ in Midtown, Chef Elizabeth Karmel hosted a fabulous night of fun, friends, and fried chicken. Created by festival founder Lee Schrager, this event was an homage to one of his favorite foods- fried chicken. Over 15 chefs and restaurants offered a walk-around tasting of their rendition of fried chicken, leading to a night full of flavorful and unique takes on this famous Southern treat.
There was everything from Fried Chicken with a Wasabi glaze from restaurant Blue Ribbon to Indian chickpea fried chicken from Top Chef Master Floyd Cardoz. Our very own Executive Chef from Red Rooster, Chef Michael Garrett offered the house our famous Fried Yard Bird with Gravy and House-made hot sauce. Special guests Spike Mendelson and Bobby Deen interacted with guests throughout the night and the country band helped guests "boogie" at the casual country shindig.
