Detoxing After The Holidays

So you ate too much yesterday? Who didn't?! As Americans, we know Thanksgiving and Christmas as the days when we overlook overeating all in the name of good spirit and celebration. And although we can't take back everything we ate yesterday, we can take a couple steps to help detox and bring our bodies back to normalcy after much indulgence.

Here are a few tips you can use today to help your body feel as happy as you did when eating that meal yesterday. Feel free to use the same tips if you just so happen to overeat again during the next couple holidays as well.

Drinking plenty of water can help start your cleanse. Drink ginger tea which helps to improve digestion and green tea which helps eliminate toxins from the body.

Chewable papaya enzymes can help promote digestion as well. Pregnant women should not chew papaya enzymes since they can be harmful for pregnancies.

Eat foods high in insoluble fiber, like carrot sticks with your turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread, or oatmeal.

Eat leafy greens which can help eliminate extra sugars in your body from that extra slice of pumpkin pie you had last night. Arugula, cabbage, kale, and other greens can help.

Get some exercise! There's no better way to burn off the extra calories you ate then by getting up and walking it off. So if you're going shopping on Black Friday, park a little farther (even though it may not even be an option) so you walk a little more today.
