Start your day on a lighter note! For years, dietitians have said that a big breakfast is in order for those trying to lose weight. German scientists, though, have published a study in Nutrition Journal that indicates that breakfast sets the caloric tone for rest of dieter's day. The subjects were two groups, one obese and the other normal weight, and the same result proved true for both: bigger breakfasts mean bigger daily calorie counts. The rest of the subjects' meals were actually unaffected by their breakfast habits. In other words, if the subjects ate a large breakfast, they did not reduce the number of calories eaten in their following meals. Smaller breakfasts, therefore, lead to a smaller total calorie count for the whole day.
