Baseball Food Is Getting A Serious Upgrade

Hot dogs and peanuts and cracker jacks and Food Network branded sandwiches? Baseball food is getting a serious upgrade at eight ballparks this year. Called the Red, White & Blue steak sandwich, the Food Network creation doesn't stray too far from convention though. With Maytag blue cheese, Peppadew-pepper mayonnaise, a hefty portion of steak, and a French demi baguette, the Red, White & Blue is a bit more sophisticated than standard ballpark fare. But the combination of red meat, blue cheese, and mayonnaise is relatively conventional, and the sandwich is clearly intended to play it safe for mainstream America. After all, the Food Network's attempt to serve duck confit pizza at Yankee Stadium only lasted two weeks.

In each city, the Food Network will serve a steak sandwich with regionally specific toppings. For example, at Miller Park in Milwaukee, the sandwich will include a beer cheese.
