20th Anniversary Benefit of the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program

On Wednesday, February 24th, I was honored at the 20th Anniversary Benefit of the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP). The event was catered by over thirty New York chefs, as well as the teens themselves, and the awards ceremony was chaired by Food & Wine publisher Christina Grdovic Baltz. C-CAP is a nonprofit organization that works with public schools across the country to prepare underserved high school students for college studies, internships, and careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry. I have been involved with C-CAP for fifteen years, am proud to be on the Board of Directors for such a great organization. I'm so happy to be able to expose undiscovered chefs to the restaurant world. These kids are an untapped source of culinary innovation, and I know that the skills they learn in C-CAP programs will serve them well for the rest of their lives. Congratulations to all my fellow honorees, and to the kids themselves, whose unique inspirations and perspectives will flavor the restaurant world for years to come.
