Bordeaux is the fifth largest city in France and the region is home to some some of the most famous wines in the world, including châteaux Margaux, Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. Located on the Garonne river between the Atlantic Ocean and the fertile vineyards and farmlands it’s a great place for foodies, known for sweet briny Arcachon oysters, tender Pauillac lamb, foie gras, Périgord truffles, prunes from Agen, and St-Emilion macarons. The CIVB, or the Bordeaux wine Bureau, has a center in town where win tourist can take classes and there is a wine bar in the lobby. The bar itself combines the classical architecture of the 18th century building with sleek modern furnishings. And visitors are able to explore a huge array of Bordeaux wines by the glass at super reasonable prices.
