C-CAP

Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a national non-profit that educates and guides underserved high school students toward a successful future, providing career readiness and development in the culinary world. After serving as a board member since 2004, Marcus was recently named co-chair of C-CAP highlighting his commitment to mentorship and inclusion across the hospitality industry.

C-CAP prepares students for the workplace through culinary training, field trips, job shadows, educational scholarships, and college and career advising. C-CAP also offers lifetime support to its alumni, keeping in touch and coaching students long after graduation. By doing this, C-CAP brings gender, ethnic, and racial diversity to leadership roles in restaurants and food companies across the country.

Founded by culinary educator and cookbook author Richard Grausman, C-CAP impacts over 17,500 students a year and is active in 7 states. C-CAP has awarded over $56 million in scholarships since its inception, and countless C-CAP alumni work throughout the country as guiding leaders of the culinary and hospitality industry.

Three Goats Org.

Three Goats Organization is a New York based non-profit organization started by Marcus and his wife Maya Gate Haile, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children, young women and families in Ethiopia by providing sustainable access to vital resources, such as food and water. The organization aims to empower young women through education by providing the necessary support to actualize self-sufficiency through entrepreneurial endeavors. What is unique about Three Goats’ process is that all of its projects become active only after a need assessment study is conducted and it is approved by the Three Goats Board of Directors.
